As for the earlier discussion about Zed and Zee, here is the reason for the difference as told to me by a South African. Don't know how true it is: In the 19th century, as little school houses were spreading across America with settlement, Zed was changed to Zee because it doesn't rhyme with the letter V! This makes the alphabet a lot easier to remember when reciting the alphabet song "A B C D E F G, H I J K L M N O P, Q R S, T U V, W X Y and ZEE". By the way, the langauge is English, and it's pronounced "ZED!" :-)
